Hello guys!
I had this post in my mind since Christmas. I got this Sculpt and Blend 2 from BH Cosmetics for Christmas and I was so excited to have a chance to finally try it. It came in this nice box, so you can keep your brushes in there. I never had a set of brushes, I always had a few brushes of different brands. I wanted a brush set that is of high quality. I think it's important to invest in quality brushes. Your makeup will look different with a good brushes. When I talk about investment, these brushes are not expensive. I think they were about 20 dollars and 40 with the postage (I ordered it from the US, so it was a little more expensive but if you live in the US, you will pay something around 5 dollars). Now I'm going to show you how to use all of these brushes. but I'm not saying you can't use it for anything else. You can use it for anything you want, this post is just for an inspiration or in case that you really don't know how to use them. I'm also about to buy Sculpt and Blend 1 which is the first edition.
Also I did My Makeup Routine so if you haven't seen it and you are interested in it, check it out.
I will link this brush set down below, so read the post and enjoy!
STEP 1 - Applying concealer - no. 130
I have my Rimmel Lasting Finish Primer and Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation done (I didn't show it because I apply my foundation with another brush - stipple brush from e.l.f. cosmetics), so now it's time to apply my concealer. I use my Makeup Revolution Protection palette which conteins three different concealers. I use the lightest one and I apply it with this flat brush no. 130. I apply it under my eyes, nose, chin and forehead, places that I want to brighten. This brush is good when you use solid concealers but you can also use liquid concealer and just smear it with this brush. I prefer blend it with my beauty blender but it's only up to you. You can also use it for applying your eye primer or liquid eye shadows.
STEP 2 - Contouring - no. 127
The next step is my favorite part. It's contouring! I use this amazing product, it's LA Girl Pro Concealer, yes it's concealer but very dark, so I use it as a contour product. I wanted some contour brush like this for a long time. I have my old one from Makeup Revolution but it is only for solid bronzer and I wanted some brush for the liquid one. And this amazing set had it! It was one of the reasons why I wanted it. This brush is also skewed which is a big plus terms contouring. So I apply this dark concealer under my cheekbones, on my forehead, nose and a little bit under my lower lip. Then I blend it all in with my beauty blender.
STEP 3 - Contouring your nose - no. 131
This is a very special brush. When I first saw it, I really didn't know how to use it. Then I saw the video and some blogger use it for contouring her nose. I think it's very interesting. You creat a perfect shape of your nose. Just make the "V" with it and then just blend it out. You can also use the edges of the brush and contour your nose to the sides. I think it's very handy. You can use a liquid dark concealer (as in step 3) or you can use a bronzer. This is also from my Protection palette from Makeup Revolution.
STEP 4 - Powdering - no. 124
Now just powder your face with this brush no. 124. It is the largest brush so it's obvious that it's for the powder. I use my Protection palette again. I love this palette, it has everything you need. Light powder to brighten your face, three concealers, bronzer, blush and highlighter.
STEP 5 - Thorough powdering - no. 128
This brush no. 128 can be used in many ways. You can use it for powdering the places where a big brush will not get, for your eyeshadows (but I think it's too big for it), for blending your concealer or applying your highlighter. I prefer use it for powdering the places under my eyes and my nose. It comes in handy when you need to repowder your under eye area. I use the same powder again.
STEP 6 - Contouring with bronzer - no. 126
Just refresh your contours with bronzer. I think this brush no. 126 is perfect for it. It's a bit flatter to facilitate the application. I use again my favorite Protection palette from Makeup Revolution, there is a beautiful bronzer, I really love the color of it and I don't want to change it. So I use it for applying bronzer under my cheekbones, forehaed and a bit on my sides of my nose.
STEP 7 - Highlighting - no. 125
Let's highlight your face! This is also my favorite part of doing my makeup. I really like how it looks on the light. It also looks amazing in the photos. I'm really not saving up with it. I use my new Mary-Lou Manizer from The Balm, I got it for Christmas and I just love it! It's extremly pigmented so you don't have to give a large layer. I apply it with this brush no. 125 but I think you can also use no. 126 or 128. It's only up to you. I apply it on my cheekbones, nose and chin but you can also use it as an eyeshadows or under your eyebrows.
STEP 8 - Applying blush - no. 123
I normally don't use the blush, but when I have this amazing brush I started to use it. This flat brush no. 123 is just amazing! You can also apply the powder or foundation with it, but I think it's perfect for a blush as well. As I said, I don't use a blush much so maybe I will try to apply my foundation with it. Also I can't forget to mention, my blush is from Protection palette (how else). I also did my eyebrows using my S-he brow pencil.
STEP 9 - Eyeshadows time - no. 129
I didn't have any blending brush for a long time. So I'm very happy I have this one. This brush is really a necessity to blend your eyeshadows well. I use my Sephora flat brush for applying my eyeshadow base and then I use this brush no. 129 for applying my shadow over my eyelid and just blend it. Eyeshadow palette I use is from Makeup Revolution and it's called Hard Day. I love the eyeshadows from this brand, they are very pigmented and when you have a good brushes you can create an amazing makeup look.
STEP 10 - Eyeshadows under your eyes - no. 132
This brush also can be used in many ways. You can use it as an eye liner brush, lip brush or use it for applying your eyeshadows under your eyes. I prefer the last tip. Skin around the eyes is very sensitive and the bristles of this brush are very fine (all brushes are very fine). So it does not irritate your surroundings around the eyes. I'm very happy for this brush. I use my old Sephora brush to apply the eyeshadows under my eyes but the bristles were not so fine.
Then just add your mascara, I use 2000 calorie from Max Factor and add your lipstick. This is Rimmel by Kate Moss no. 03.
The final result
So what do you think guys? I think this brush set is just amazing! I need to buy the first edition as soon as possible. You don't have to spend a lot of money for some very expensive brushes when you can have a lot of cheaper brushes with the same quality. If you have any question please let me know in the comments.

Thank you so much for this large review and nice pictures! I've just ordered sculpt and blend 2 based on this :)
ReplyDeleteYou are breathtakingly beautiful and your make-up looks stunning. I do think you need to work on your eyebrows though. Please do not take it badly. I use organic castor oil to grow out my brows and Benefit eyebrow products have changed the way I do my eyebrows. You can achieve a natural look without it looking artificial. Anyway, that's my two-cents. Have a nice day.
ReplyDeleteThis post is old, I do my eyebrows differently now and I use more expensive products. In this post I used Rimmel eyebrow pencil I think, so it looks how it is :D anyway, I bought castor oil so i hope my eyebrows will grow faster, because it is my main problem. So thank you for your advice :)
